What, what?!...Unbelievable!!!

So I convinced my mother a while back to join dA - so she can stalk me Two or so weeks ago I added some of her work to her gallery AND today she received a DD!

Forgive her if she replies slowly...she's still figuring it all out!

This group is the very definition of what Deviant Art is to me. When I started visiting the site it use to depress me to see all the exceptional art...but it was also extreme motivation.At first it was a case of "monkey see, monkey do". I looked at what others were doing and worked really hard to emulate them. After a while I started adding my own flare until I started doing completely original pieces.

I think the Draw-Along group helps artists do exactly that. They choose the reference for you so that you concentrate on your skill and interpretation, rather than wasting hours on deciding what to draw. Seeing other artists interpret the same reference helps you to think outside of your preconceptions of what can be done. Comparing yourself to others is sometimes hard but I believe it is the fastest way to grow.
On a personal note: nothing inspires me quite as much a envy. When I see someones work that I like better than my own, there's a 3 year-old version of me throwing a tantrum in my head going: "I wanna do that too!!!"

This is honestly the one group on dA where  you are the most likely to have your art exposed. There are several members (including me) that do monthly features for the group. If you want to be part of an active community, this is the group for you.
